Partnerships

It is God’s design to grow his kingdom relationally through spiritual partnerships between people, not through program and project tasks. Leaders and volunteers continuously seek to reach, equip, and raise up fellow workers to magnify His glory. This is accomplished by keeping individuals, their families, and the community apprised of faith formation and service opportunities. Trusting partnerships form when there is regular, consistent, meaningful, and Godly communication. Sharing information and resources in a timely manner optimizes occasions for discipleship and multiplies efforts to fulfill the mission of the church.

Approach to Partnerships

Leading and serving others through regular, consistent communication

  • Initial contact: Personalized contact for the first time is warm and welcoming and establishes partnership. Share relevant and inviting information. Ask for contact preferences and include next steps. Offer to answer questions. Honor requests and follow through with supplying requested information or referrals. (see Leader Profile Worksheet)
  • Meaningful contact: Contact should be purposeful, informative, and useful in quality. Consider people’s time, interest, and level of involvement. Be open to suggestions and invite feedback. Be an earnest and encouraging partner (Philippians 4:8). (see Periodic Contact Worksheet)
  • Regular, consistent contact: Establish and make priority a regular schedule for contact despite attendance record. Consistency in communication creates accountability, allows for measuring effectiveness, offers relevancy and predictability, and stresses importance of the partnership. (see Periodic Contact Worksheet) 
  • Godly content and use of social media: Pursue content and conversations that exalt God’s thoughts and glorify him. Posts, texts, emails, blogs, and tweets should point people to Jesus Christ and reflect his nature. Shun idle chatter and babbling as it may lead to misunderstanding, fruitless words, and exalting personal opinions (Timothy 2:16). Eternally-focused communication pursues peace and edifies another (Romans 14:19). (see Care & Safety Policy: Contact, Communication, & Supervision – pages 10-12)
  • Contact of minor children: Parental and guardian permission and clear approval must always be sought and on record before the regular contact of minor children via cell phone, texting, and email. Content should be limited to invitations such as faith formation and service opportunities, praise and prayer requests, offering encouragement through scripture, or passing on pertinent scheduling or logistical information. Leading and serving others through information and resource sharing allows for:

  • Reinforcement of biblical lessons, main truths, and doctrine
  • Encouraging, nurturing, and challenging others in their faith
  • Sharing of best practices to learn quickly from the experience of others
  • Collaboration that sparks creativity without starting from scratch
  • Understanding of vision, mission, and core values
  • Elimination of the duplication of work and streamlines resources
